Psalms 94
The Lord Will Not Forsake His People
1O Lord, God of avengeance,O God of vengeance, bshine forth!
2 cRise up, O djudge of the earth;
repay to the eproud what they deserve!
3O Lord, fhow long shall the wicked,
how long shall gthe wicked exult?
4They pour out their harrogant words;
all ithe evildoers boast.
5They jcrush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6They kill kthe widow and the sojourner,
and murder lthe fatherless;
7 mand they say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.”
8 nUnderstand, O dullest of the people!
Fools, when will you be wise?
9 oHe who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10He who pdisciplines the nations, does he not rebuke?
He who qteaches man knowledge—
11 rthe Lord—knows the thoughts of man,
that they are sbut a breath. ▼
▼Septuagint they are futile
12 uBlessed is the man whom you vdiscipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13to give him wrest from xdays of trouble,
until ya pit is dug for the wicked.
14 zFor the Lord will not forsake his aapeople;
he will not abandon his abheritage;
15for acjustice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will adfollow it.
16 aeWho rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 afIf the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of agsilence.
18When I thought, ah“My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, aiheld me up.
19When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20Can ajwicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame injustice by akstatute?
21They alband together against the life of the righteous
and condemn amthe innocent to death. ▼
▼Hebrew condemn innocent blood
22But the Lord has become my aostronghold,
and my God apthe rock of my aqrefuge.
23He will bring back on them artheir iniquity
and aswipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.
