Therefore; in view of the whole subject and all the light that is thrown upon it.

Without the deeds of the law; man's obedience to law is not the ground of his justification, but the merits of Christ.

Galatians 2:16

By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified; Paul and Peter, though Jews, believed this. Why then should Peter act as if it were necessary for the Gentiles to observe the ceremonial law? This was inconsistent, and adapted to make an erroneous impression on others.
