1 Peter 1:22-25

22Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for aa sincere brotherly love, blove one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 csince you have been born again, dnot of perishable seed but of imperishable, through ethe living and abiding word of God; 24for

fAll flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
25 gbut the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word his the good news that was preached to you.

1 Peter 2:1-10

A Living Stone and a Holy People

1 iSo put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. 2 jLike newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual kmilk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3if indeed you have ltasted that the Lord is good.

4As you come to him, a living stone mrejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 nyou yourselves like living stones are being built up as oa spiritual house, to be pa holy priesthood, qto offer spiritual sacrifices racceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For it stands in Scripture:

sBehold, I am laying in Zion a stone,
a cornerstone chosen and precious,
tand whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”
7So the honor is for you who ubelieve, but for those who vdo not believe,

w“The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”
Greek  the head of the corner

8and

y“A stone of stumbling,
and a rock of offense.”
They stumble because they disobey the word, zas they were destined to do.

9But you are aaa chosen race, aba royal acpriesthood, ada holy nation, aea people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you afout of darkness into aghis marvelous light. 10 ahOnce you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
