Lamentations 3:19-33

19 aRemember my affliction and my wanderings,
bthe wormwood and cthe gall!
20My soul continually remembers it
dand is bowed down within me.
21But this I call to mind,
and etherefore I have hope:
22 fThe steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
Syriac, Targum; Hebrew Because of the steadfast love of the Lord, we are not cut off

hhis mercies never come to an end;
23they are new ievery morning;
jgreat is your faithfulness.
24 k“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
ltherefore I will hope in him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who mwait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
26 nIt is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
27 oIt is good for a man that he bear
the yoke pin his youth.
28 Let him qsit alone in silence
when it is laid on him;
29 rlet him put his mouth in the dust
there may yet be hope;
30 slet him give his cheek to the one who strikes,
and let him be filled with insults.
31 tFor the Lord will not
cast off forever,
32but, though he ucause grief, vhe will have compassion
waccording to the abundance of his steadfast love;
33 xfor he does not afflict from his heart
or ygrieve the children of men.
