Job 22:21

     21. Eliphaz takes it for granted, Job is not yet "acquainted" with God; literally, "become a companion of God." Turn with familiar confidence to God.

and beSo thou shalt be: the second imperatively expresses the consequence of obeying the first (Ps 37:27).

peace—prosperity and restoration to Job; true spiritually also to us (Ro 5:1; Col 1:20).

      good— (1Ti 4:8).

Jeremiah 22:16

     16. was not this to know me—namely, to show by deeds that one knows God's will, as was the case with Josiah (compare Joh 13:17; contrast Tit 1:16).

1 Corinthians 1:31

     31. glory in . . . Lord— (Jer 9:23, 24) —in opposition to "flesh glorying in His presence" (1Co 1:29). In contrast to morbid slavish self-abasement, Paul joins with humility the elevating consciousness of our true dignity in Christ. He who glories is to glory in the Lord, not in the flesh, nor in the world.
