51 ^aAnd behold, ^bthe ^{▼▼Or curtain}veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and ^dthe earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 Also the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the ^{▼▼Lit holy ones; i.e., God’s people}saints who had ^ffallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered ^gthe holy city and appeared to many. 54 ^hNow as for the centurion and those who were with him ⁱkeeping guard over Jesus, when they saw ^jthe earthquake and the other things that were happening, they became extremely frightened and said, “Truly this was ^{▼▼Or a son of God; or a son of a god
,} ^lthe Son of God!”

55 ^mAnd many women were there watching from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee while ⁿcaring for Him. 56 Among them were ^oMary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and ^pthe mother of the sons of Zebedee.
