W. of Macedonia, on the eastern coast of the Adriatic gulf, opposite Italy. It was distinguished into two parts; Liburnia north, now Croatia; and Dalmatia south, still retaining the same name. The account of Paul's second visit to the peninsula of Greece, Ac 20:1, 2, says Dr. Paley, leads us to suppose that, in going over Macedonia, he had passed so far to the west, as to come into those parts of the country which were contiguous to Illyricum, if he did not enter Illyricum itself. The history and the Epistle therefore so far agree; and the agreement is much strengthened by a coincidence of time; for much before the time when this epistle was written, he could not have said so, as his route, in his former journey, confined him to the eastern side of the peninsula, a considerable distance from Illyricum. fully.1:14-16; Ac 20:20; Col 1:25; 2Ti 4:171 Corinthians 2:10

1 Lest their false teachers should charge him with vain glory, he shows the faith and graces of the Corinthians to be a sufficient commendation of his ministry.6 Whereupon entering a comparison between the ministers of the law and of the gospel,12 he proves that his ministry is so far the more excellent, as the gospel of life and liberty is more glorious than the law of condemnation. begin.2:17; 5:12; 10:8,12; 12:11,19; 1Co 3:10; 4:15; 10:33epistles.Ac 18:27; 1Co 16:3 are.1Co 3:10; 9:1,2in.7:3; 11:11; 12:15; Php 1:7known.Ro 1:8; 1Co 9:2; 1Th 1:8 the epistle.Ex 31:18; Re 2:1,8,12,18; 3:1,7,14,22ministered.1Co 8:5-10the living.6:16; Jos 3:10; 1Sa 17:26; Ps 42:2; 84:2; Jer 10:10; Da 6:26Mt 16:16; 1Th 1:9; Heb 9:14not.Ex 24:12; 34:1but.Ps 40:8; Jer 31:33; Eze 11:19; 36:25-27; Heb 8:10; 10:16
