CHAPTER 11

Peter Reports to the Jerusalem Assembly

1[⁴heard ¹And ²the ³apostles], and the brethren   being in   Judea, that also the nations received the word   of God. 2And when Peter ascended unto Jerusalem, [⁴argued ⁵with ⁶him ¹the ones ²of ³the circumcision], 3saying that, To men [²an uncircumcised condition  ¹having] -- you entered and ate with them? 4And beginning,   Peter displayed to them in order, saying, 5I was in the city of Joppa praying. And I beheld in a change of state a vision, [²coming down ¹a certain item] as [²piece of cloth ¹a great], [²by four ³corners ¹being lowered] from the heaven, and it came as far as me; 6on which having gazed upon I contemplated, and I saw the four-footed creatures  of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the reptiles, and the birds of the heaven. 7And I heard a voice saying to me, Having risen up, Peter, sacrifice and eat! 8And I said, By no means, O Lord, for all common or unclean at no time entered into   my mouth. 9[³responded ¹And ⁴to me ²the voice] a second time  from out of   heaven, What   God cleansed, you are not to make unclean! 10And this happened unto three times, and again it was pulled up all together into the heaven. 11And behold, immediately three men stood at the house in which I was, ones being sent from Caesarea to me. 12[⁴said ¹And ⁵to me ²the ³spirit] to come together with them, [²nothing ¹examining]. And went with me also   [²six ³brethren ¹these], and we entered into the house of the man. 13And he reported to us how he beheld the angel in   his house, standing and having said to him, Send [²unto ³Joppa ¹men], and fetch Simon, the one called Peter! 14who shall speak words to you by which you shall be delivered, you and all   your house. 15And in   my beginning to speak, [⁴fell ¹the ³spirit   ²holy] upon them as also upon us in the beginning. 16And I remembered the saying of the Lord, how he said, John indeed immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in [²spirit ¹holy]. 17If then [⁴the ⁵equal ⁶present ²gave ³to them   ¹God] as also to us having believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, then I, who was I to be able to restrain   God?

Conversion of the Nations

18And having heard these things, they were still, and they glorified   God, saying, It is so indeed that also to the nations   God   [²repentance ¹gave] unto life. 19The ones indeed then being disseminated because of the affliction   taking place with Stephen, went unto Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, [⁴to no one ¹speaking ²the ³word] except only to Jews. 20And there were certain [²of ³them ¹men], Cypriots and Cyrenians, who having entered unto Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, announcing good news -- the Lord Jesus. 21And [³was ¹the hand ²of the Lord] with them; and a great number having believed, turned unto the Lord. 22[⁴was heard ¹And ²the ³word] in the ears of the assembly   in Jerusalem concerning them; and they sent out Barnabas to go through unto Antioch. 23Who, having come, and having seen the favor   of God, rejoiced, and exhorted all to the attention of the heart to remain in the Lord. 24For he was [²man ¹a good], and full [²spirit ¹of holy] and of belief. And [³was added ²multitude ¹a fit] to the Lord. 25[³went forth ¹And ⁴unto ⁵Tarsus   ²Barnabas] to search out Saul. 26And having found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass to them [⁶year ⁵a whole ¹to be gathered ²with ³the ⁴assembly], and to teach [²multitude ¹a fit]. [⁴were ⁶treated ¹And ⁵first ⁸in ⁹Antioch ²the ³disciples ⁷as Christians].

Agabus Signifies a Great Famine

27[²in ³these ¹And]   days came down from Jerusalem prophets unto Antioch. 28And having risen, one of them, by name Agabus, signified through the spirit [²famine ¹a great] about to be upon the entire   world; which also came to pass under Claudius Caesar. 29And the disciples, as any one was well-provided, [³confirmed ¹each ²of them] for service to send help  to the [²dwelling ³in   ⁴Judea ¹brethren]; 30which also they did, sending it  to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
