1 Chronicles 11
David Anointed King1 And [4gathered together 1every 2man 3of Israel] to David in Hebron, saying, Behold, [2of your bones 3and 4of your flesh 1we are]. 2 And indeed yesterday and indeed the third day before in Saul being king, you were the one bringing in and leading out Israel. And [3said 1the lord 2your God] to you, You tend my people Israel, and you shall be for leader over my people Israel. 3 And [4came 1all 2the elders 3of Israel] to the king in Hebron. And [3ordained 4with them 1king 2David] a covenant in Hebron before the lord. And they anointed David for king over Israel, according to the word of the lord through the hand of Samuel. 4 And [6went 1king 2David 3and 4all 5Israel] into Jerusalem -- this is Jebus. And [3were there 1the 2Jebusites], the ones dwelling the land 5 And [4said 1the ones 2dwelling 3Jebus] to David, You shall not enter here. And [2was first to take 1David] the citadel of Zion -- this is the city of David. 6 And David said, Anyone beating the Jebusites at first, he will be as a ruler and as commandant. And [4ascended 5against 6them 1Joab 2son 3of Zeruiah] at first, and he became as a ruler. 7 And David stayed in the citadel; because of this he called it, City of David. 8 And he built the city round about from the Akra and unto the circuit. And Joab procured the rest of the city. 9 And David went going and being magnified. And the lord almighty was with him. 10 And these are the rulers of the mighty ones, the ones who were with David, the ones growing strong with him in his kingdom with all Israel, to give him reign, according to the word of the lord over Israel.
David's Mighty Men11 And this is the number of the mighty ones of David -- Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, first of the thirty; this one unsheathed his broadsword upon three hundred slain at [2time 1one]. 12 And after him -- Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite -- this one was among the three mighty ones. 13 This one was with David in Pas-dammin, and the Philistines were gathered together there for war, and there was a portion of a field full of barley, and the people fled from the face of the Philistines. 14 And he stood in the midst of the portion and, delivered it, and he struck the Philistines. And the lord performed [2deliverance 1a great]. 15 And there went down three of the thirty rulers to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the camp of the Philistines pitched in the valley of the giants. 16 And David was then in the citadel, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem. 17 And David desired, and he said, Who will give me a drink of water from the well at Beth-lehem, the one at the gate? 18 And [3tore up 1the 2three] the camp of the Philistines, and they drew water from the well of Beth-lehem, which was at the gate, and they took it, and came to David. And [2did not 3want 1David] to drink it. And he gave it as a libation to the lord, 19 and he said, Kindness to me, O God, to do this thing. Shall [2blood 3of these men 1I drink] with their lives, no. For with their lives they brought it, and I do not want to drink it. These things [4did 1the 2three 3mighty men]. 20 And Abishai the brother of Joab, this one was ruler of the three. This one unsheathed his broadsword against three hundred slain at [2time 1one]; this one was famous among the other three. 21 Of the three [2above 3the 4two 1he was more honorable], and he became to them as a ruler, but unto the first three he arrived not at. 22 And Benaiah, son of Jehoiada son [2man 1of a mighty] (many were his works) from Kabzeel; he struck the two lion-like ones of Moab; also this one went down and struck the lion in the pit in the day of snow. 23 And this one struck the Egyptian man, a man [2tall 1five cubits]; and in the hand of the Egyptian was a spear as the beam of a loom of one weaving. And [2went 3against 4him 1Benaiah] with a rod, and removed the spear from the hand of the Egyptian, and he killed him by his spear. 24 These things [4did 1Benaiah 2son 3of Jehoiada]. And to this one was a name among the three mighty ones. 25 [4above 5the 6thirty 2was 3honored 1He], but to the first three he did not arrive. And [2placed 3him 1David] over his family. 26 And the mighty ones of power -- Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo from Beth-lehem, 27 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite, 28 Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-ezer the Antothite, 29 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite, 30 Maharai the Netophathite, Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite, 31 Ithai son of Ribai of Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite, 32 Hurai from Nachali Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite, 33 Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite, 34 sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan son of Shage the Hararite, 35 Ahiam son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal son of Ur, 36 Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite, 37 Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai, 38 Joel brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Haggeri, 39 Zelek the Ammonite, Naarai the Berothite, one carrying the weapons of Joab son of Zeruiah, 40 Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite, 41 Uriah the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai, 42 Adina son of Shiza the Reubenite, ruler to Reuben, and with him thirty. 43 Hanan son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite, 44 Uzzia the Asterathite, Shama and Jehiel sons of Hothan the Aroerite, 45 Jediael son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite, 46 Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai and Joshaviah the sons of Elnaam, and Ithma the Moabite, 47 Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
