1 Chronicles 28:9

David’s Charge to Solomon

9“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a a  whole heart and with a willing mind b  for the  Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. c  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

Psalms 44:9-26

9 But you have d  rejected us and disgraced us
and e  have not gone out with our armies.
10You have made us f  turn back from the foe,
and those who hate us have gotten spoil.
11You have made us like g  sheep for slaughter
and have h  scattered us among the nations.
12 i  You have sold your people for a trifle,
demanding no high price for them.
13You have made us j  the taunt of our neighbors,
the derision and k  scorn of those around us.
14You have made us l  a byword among the nations,
m  a laughingstock
Hebrew  a shaking of the head
among the peoples.
15All day long my disgrace is before me,
and o  shame has covered my face
16at the sound of the taunter and reviler,
at the sight of p  the enemy and the avenger.
17 q  All this has come upon us,
though we have not forgotten you,
and we have not been false to your covenant.
18Our heart has not turned back,
nor have our r  steps s  departed from your way;
19yet you have t  broken us in the place of u  jackals
and covered us with v  the shadow of death.
20If we had forgotten the name of our God
or w  spread out our hands to x  a foreign god,
21 y  would not God discover this?
z  For he knows the secrets of the heart.
22Yet aa  for your sake we are killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.
23 ab  Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?
Rouse yourself! ac  Do not reject us forever!
24Why ad  do you hide your face?
Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?
25For our ae  soul is bowed down to the dust;
our belly clings to the ground.
26Rise up; af  come to our help!
ag  Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!
