1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,To those who are elect exiles of athe Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Born Again to a Living Hope
3 bBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! cAccording to his great mercy, dhe has caused us to be born again to a living hope ethrough the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 5who by God’s power are being guarded fthrough faith for a salvation gready to be revealed in the last time. 7so that hthe tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes ithough it is tested by jfire—may be found to result in kpraise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 9obtaining lthe outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.11inquiring mwhat person or time nthe Spirit of Christ in them was indicating owhen he predicted pthe sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.
Called to Be Holy
13Therefore, qpreparing your minds for action, ▼▼Greek girding up the loins of your mind
and sbeing sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 15but tas he who called you is holy, you also be holy uin all your conduct, 17And if you vcall on him as Father who wjudges ximpartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves ywith fear throughout the time of your exile, 19but zwith the precious blood of Christ, like that of aaa lamb abwithout blemish or spot. 21 acwho through him are believers in God, adwho raised him from the dead and aegave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. 23 afsince you have been born again, agnot of perishable seed but of imperishable, through ahthe living and abiding word of God; 25 aibut the word of the Lord remains forever.”
