Isaiah 13:15-18

15Whoever is found will be thrust through,
and whoever is caught will fall by the sword.
16 a  Their infants will be dashed in pieces
before their eyes;
their houses will be plundered
and their wives ravished.
17 Behold, b  I am stirring up the Medes against them,
who have no regard for silver
and do not delight in gold.
18 c  Their bows will slaughter
Hebrew dash in pieces
the young men;
they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb;
their eyes will not pity children.

Isaiah 47:10-15

10 You felt secure in your wickedness,
you said, “No one sees me”;
your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray,
and you said in your heart,
e  I am, and there is no one besides me.”
11But evil shall come upon you,
which you will not know how to charm away;
disaster shall fall upon you,
for which you will not be able to atone;
f  and ruin shall come upon you suddenly,
of which you know nothing.
12 g  Stand fast in your enchantments
and your many sorceries,
with which you have labored from your youth;
perhaps you may be able to succeed;
perhaps you may inspire terror.
13You are wearied with your many counsels;
let them stand forth and save you,
h  those who divide the heavens,
who gaze at the stars,
who at the new moons make known
what shall come upon you.
14 Behold, i  they are like stubble;
j  the fire consumes them;
they cannot deliver themselves
from the power of the flame.
No coal for warming oneself is this,
no fire to sit before!
15Such to you are those with whom you have labored,
who have done business with you from your youth;
they wander about, each in his own direction;
there is no one to save you.

Jeremiah 6:22-23

22 Thus says the  Lord:
k  Behold, a people is coming l  from the north country,
a great nation is stirring from m  the farthest parts of the earth.
23They lay hold on bow and javelin;
they are n  cruel and have no mercy;
o  the sound of them is like the roaring sea;
they ride on horses,
set in array as a man for battle,
against you, O daughter of Zion!”

Jeremiah 50:40-42

40 p  As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the  Lord q  so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

41 r  Behold, a people comes from the north;
a mighty nation and many kings
are stirring from the farthest parts of the earth.
42They lay hold of bow and spear;
they are cruel and have no mercy.
The sound of them is like the roaring of the sea;
they ride on horses,
arrayed as a man for battle
against you, O daughter of Babylon!

Jeremiah 51:35-58

35The violence done to me and to my kinsmen be upon Babylon,”
let the inhabitant of Zion say.
“My blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,”
let Jerusalem say.
36Therefore thus says the  Lord:
Behold s  I will plead your cause
and take vengeance for you.
t  I will dry up her sea
and u  make her fountain dry,
37and Babylon shall become v  a heap of ruins,
w  the haunt of jackals,
x  a horror y  and a hissing,
without inhabitant.
38 z  “They shall roar together aa  like lions;
they shall growl like lionscubs.
39 ab  While they are inflamed ac  I will prepare them a feast
and ad  make them drunk, that they may become merry,
ae  then sleep a perpetual sleep
and not wake, declares the  Lord.
40I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter,
like rams and male goats.
41 How af  Babylon
Hebrew Sheshach, a code name for Babylon
is taken,
ah  the praise of the whole earth ai  seized!
How Babylon has become
a horror among the nations!
42 aj  The sea has come up on Babylon;
she is covered with its tumultuous waves.
43Her cities have become a horror,
ak  a land of drought and a desert,
al  a land in which no one dwells,
and through which no son of man passes.
44And I will punish am  Bel in Babylon,
and an  take out of his mouth ao  what he has swallowed.
ap  The nations shall no longer flow to him;
aq  the wall of Babylon has fallen.
45 Go out of the midst of her, ar  my people!
Let every one save his life
from as  the fierce anger of the  Lord!
46Let not your heart faint, and be not fearful
at  at the report heard in the land,
au  when a report comes in one year
and afterward a report in another year,
and violence is in the land,
av  and ruler is against ruler.
47 Therefore, behold, the days are coming
when aw  I will punish the images of Babylon;
ax  her whole land shall be put to shame,
and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
48 ay  Then the heavens and the earth,
and all that is in them,
shall sing for joy over Babylon,
az  for the destroyers shall come against them out of the north,

declares the  Lord.
49Babylon must fall for the slain of Israel,
ba  just as for Babylon have fallen the slain of all the earth.
50 bb  “You who have escaped from the sword,
go, do not stand still!
Remember the  Lord from far away,
and let Jerusalem come into your mind:
51 bc  ‘We are put to shame, for we have heard reproach;
bd  dishonor has covered our face,
be  for foreigners have come
into the holy places of the  Lord’s house.’
52 Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the  Lord,
when bf  I will execute judgment upon her images,
bg  and through all her land
the wounded shall groan.
53Though Babylon should bh  mount up to heaven,
and though she should bi  fortify her strong height,
yet destroyers would come from me against her,
declares the  Lord.
54 bj  “A voice! A cry from Babylon!
The noise of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!
55For the  Lord is laying Babylon waste
and stilling her mighty voice.
bk  Their waves roar like many waters;
the noise of their voice is raised,
56for a destroyer has come upon her,
upon Babylon;
her warriors are taken;
their bows are broken in pieces,
bl  for the  Lord is a God of recompense;
he will surely repay.
57 bm  I will make drunk her officials and her wise men,
bn  her governors, her commanders, and her warriors;
they shall sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake,
declares bo  the King, whose name is the  Lord of hosts.
58 Thus says the  Lord of hosts:
The broad bp  wall of Babylon
shall be leveled to the ground,
bq  and her high gates
shall be burned with fire.
br  The peoples labor for nothing,
and bs  the nations weary themselves only for fire.”

Nahum 1:2

God’s Wrath Against Nineveh

2 bt  The  Lord is a jealous and avenging God;
the  Lord is avenging and wrathful;
bu  the  Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries
and bv  keeps wrath for his enemies.

Nahum 1:6

6 bw  Who can stand before his indignation?
Who can endure the heat of his anger?
His wrath bx  is poured out like fire,
and by  the rocks are broken into pieces by him.

Malachi 4:1

The Great Day of the  Lord

Ch 4:1–6 is ch 3:19–24 in Hebrew
For behold ca  the day is coming cb  burning like an oven, when cc  all the arrogant and cd  all evildoers ce  will be stubble. The day that is coming cf  shall set them ablaze, says the  Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
