Job 33:19-22

19 “Man is also rebuked with pain on his bed
and with continual strife in his a  bones,
20so that his b  life loathes bread,
and his appetite c  the choicest food.
21His flesh is so wasted away that it cannot be seen,
and his bones that were not seen d  stick out.
22His soul draws near e  the pit,
and his life to f  those who bring death.

Job 33:28

28He has redeemed my g  soul from going down h  into the pit,
and my life shall i  look upon the light.’

Psalms 116:8

8 For j  you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling;

Isaiah 38:17-18

17 k  Behold, it was for my welfare
that I had great bitterness;
l  but in love you have delivered my life
from the pit of destruction,
m  for you have cast all my sins
behind your back.
18 n  For Sheol does not thank you;
death does not praise you;
those who go down to the pit do not hope
for your faithfulness.

Jonah 2:4-6

4 o  Then I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
p  yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
5 q  The waters closed in over me r  to take my life;
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head
6at the roots of the mountains.
I went down to the land
whose bars closed upon me forever;
yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O  Lord my God.
