share of the
men who

בִּלְעָדַי רַק אֲשֶׁר אָֽכְלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וְחֵלֶק הָֽאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הָלְכוּ אִתִּי עָנֵר אֶשְׁכֹּל וּמַמְרֵא הֵם יִקְחוּ חֶלְקָֽם׃ ס

And
Abraham ran to the
herd and
took a
calf,
tender and
good, and
gave it to a
young man, who
prepared it
quickly.
וְאֶל־
הַבָּקָר רָץ אַבְרָהָם וַיִּקַּח בֶּן־
בָּקָר רַךְ וָטוֹב וַיִּתֵּן אֶל־
הַנַּעַר וַיְמַהֵר לַעֲשׂוֹת אֹתֽוֹ׃

But
before they
lay down, the
men of the
city, the
men of
Sodom, both
young and
old,
all the
people to the
last man,
surrounded the
house.
טֶרֶם יִשְׁכָּבוּ וְאַנְשֵׁי הָעִיר אַנְשֵׁי סְדֹם נָסַבּוּ עַל־
הַבַּיִת מִנַּעַר וְעַד־
זָקֵן כָּל־
הָעָם מִקָּצֶֽה׃

But
God said to
Abraham, “Be not
displeased because of the
boy and because of your
slave woman. Whatever
Sarah says to
you, do as she
tells you, for through
Isaac shall your
offspring be
named.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־
אַבְרָהָם אַל־
יֵרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ עַל־
הַנַּעַר וְעַל־
אֲמָתֶךָ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר תֹּאמַר אֵלֶיךָ שָׂרָה שְׁמַע בְּקֹלָהּ כִּי בְיִצְחָק יִקָּרֵא לְךָ
זָֽרַע׃

And
God heard the
voice of the
boy, and the
angel of
God called to
Hagar from
heaven and
said to her, “What troubles you,
Hagar?
Fear not, for
God has
heard the
voice of the
boy where he is.
וַיִּשְׁמַע אֱלֹהִים אֶת־
קוֹל הַנַּעַר וַיִּקְרָא מַלְאַךְ אֱלֹהִים ׀
אֶל־
הָגָר מִן־
הַשָּׁמַיִם וַיֹּאמֶר לָהּ
מַה־לָּךְ

תִּירְאִי כִּֽי־
שָׁמַע אֱלֹהִים אֶל־
קוֹל הַנַּעַר בַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא־
שָֽׁם׃

Up! Lift
up the
boy, and hold him
fast with your
hand, for I will
make him into a
great nation.”

Then
God opened her
eyes, and she
saw a
well of
water. And she
went and
filled the
skin with
water and gave the
boy a
drink.
וַיִּפְקַח אֱלֹהִים אֶת־
עֵינֶיהָ וַתֵּרֶא בְּאֵר מָיִם וַתֵּלֶךְ וַתְּמַלֵּא אֶת־
הַחֵמֶת מַיִם וַתַּשְׁקְ אֶת־
הַנָּֽעַר׃

And
God was with the
boy, and he
grew up. He
lived in the
wilderness and became an
expert with the
bow.
וַיְהִי אֱלֹהִים אֶת־
הַנַּעַר וַיִּגְדָּל וַיֵּשֶׁב בַּמִּדְבָּר וַיְהִי רֹבֶה קַשָּֽׁת׃

So
Abraham rose
early in the
morning,
saddled his
donkey, and
took two of his
young men with him, and his
son Isaac. And he
cut the
wood for the
burnt offering and
arose and
went to the
place of which
God had
told him.
וַיַּשְׁכֵּם אַבְרָהָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ אֶת־
חֲמֹרוֹ וַיִּקַּח אֶת־
שְׁנֵי נְעָרָיו אִתּוֹ וְאֵת יִצְחָק בְּנוֹ וַיְבַקַּע עֲצֵי עֹלָה וַיָּקָם וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל־
הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר־
אָֽמַר־לוֹ

Then
Abraham said to his
young men, “Stay
here with the
donkey; I and the
boy will
go over
there and
worship and come
again to you.”
וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֶל־
נְעָרָיו שְׁבוּ־לָכֶם
פֹּה עִֽם־
הַחֲמוֹר וַאֲנִי וְהַנַּעַר נֵלְכָה עַד־
כֹּה וְנִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶה וְנָשׁוּבָה אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

He
said,
“Do not
lay your
hand on the
boy or
do anything to him, for
now I
know that you
fear God, seeing you have
not withheld your
son, your
only son, from me.”
וַיֹּאמֶר אַל־
תִּשְׁלַח יָֽדְךָ אֶל־
הַנַּעַר וְאַל־
תַּעַשׂ לוֹ
מְאוּמָּה כִּי ׀
עַתָּה יָדַעְתִּי כִּֽי־
יְרֵא אֱלֹהִים אַתָּה וְלֹא חָשַׂכְתָּ אֶת־
בִּנְךָ אֶת־
יְחִידְךָ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

So
Abraham returned to his
young men, and they
arose and
went together to
Beersheba. And
Abraham lived at
Beersheba.
וַיָּשָׁב אַבְרָהָם אֶל־
נְעָרָיו וַיָּקֻמוּ וַיֵּלְכוּ יַחְדָּו אֶל־בְּאֵר
שָׁבַע וַיֵּשֶׁב אַבְרָהָם בִּבְאֵר
שָֽׁבַע׃ פ

When the
boys grew up,
Esau was a
skillful hunter, a
man of the
field, while
Jacob was a
quiet man,
dwelling in
tents.
וַֽיִּגְדְּלוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיְהִי עֵשָׂו אִישׁ יֹדֵעַ צַיִד אִישׁ שָׂדֶה וְיַעֲקֹב אִישׁ תָּם יֹשֵׁב אֹהָלִֽים׃

And the
young man did
not delay to
do the
thing, because he
delighted in
Jacob’s daughter. Now he was the
most honored of
all his
father’s house.
וְלֹֽא־
אֵחַר הַנַּעַר לַעֲשׂוֹת הַדָּבָר כִּי חָפֵץ בְּבַֽת־
יַעֲקֹב וְהוּא נִכְבָּד מִכֹּל בֵּית אָבִֽיו׃

These are the
generations of
Jacob.
Joseph, being
seventeen years old, was
pasturing the
flock with his
brothers. He was a
boy with the
sons of
Bilhah and
Zilpah, his
father’s wives. And
Joseph brought a
bad report of them to their
father.

A
young Hebrew was
there with us, a
servant of the
captain of the
guard. When we
told him, he
interpreted our
dreams to us, giving an
interpretation to each
man according to his
dream.
וְשָׁם אִתָּנוּ נַעַר עִבְרִי עֶבֶד לְשַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים וַנְּסַפֶּר־לוֹ
וַיִּפְתָּר־לָנוּ
אֶת־
חֲלֹמֹתֵינוּ אִישׁ כַּחֲלֹמוֹ פָּתָֽר׃

And
Judah said to
Israel his
father, “
Send the
boy with me, and we will
arise and
go, that we may
live and
not die, both we and you and
also our
little ones.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוּדָה אֶל־
יִשְׂרָאֵל אָבִיו שִׁלְחָה הַנַּעַר אִתִּי וְנָקוּמָה וְנֵלֵכָה וְנִֽחְיֶה וְלֹא נָמוּת גַּם־
אֲנַחְנוּ גַם־
אַתָּה גַּם־
טַפֵּֽנוּ׃

We
said to my
lord, ‘The
boy cannot leave his
father, for if he should
leave his father, his
father would
die.’
וַנֹּאמֶר אֶל־
אֲדֹנִי לֹא־
יוּכַל הַנַּעַר לַעֲזֹב אֶת־
אָבִיו וְעָזַב אֶת־
אָבִיו וָמֵֽת׃

“
Now therefore, as soon as I
come to your
servant my
father, and the
boy is
not with us, then, as his
life is
bound up in the boy’s
life,
וְעַתָּה כְּבֹאִי אֶל־
עַבְדְּךָ אָבִי וְהַנַּעַר אֵינֶנּוּ אִתָּנוּ וְנַפְשׁוֹ קְשׁוּרָה בְנַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

as soon as he
sees that the
boy is
not with us, he will
die, and your
servants will bring
down the
gray hairs of your
servant our
father with
sorrow to
Sheol.
וְהָיָה כִּרְאוֹתוֹ כִּי־
אֵין הַנַּעַר וָמֵת וְהוֹרִידוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ אֶת־
שֵׂיבַת עַבְדְּךָ אָבִינוּ בְּיָגוֹן שְׁאֹֽלָה׃

For your
servant became a pledge of
safety for the
boy to my
father,
saying,
‘
If I do
not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the
blame before my
father all my
life.’

כִּי עַבְדְּךָ עָרַב אֶת־
הַנַּעַר מֵעִם אָבִי לֵאמֹר אִם־
לֹא אֲבִיאֶנּוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְחָטָאתִי לְאָבִי כָּל־
הַיָּמִֽים׃

Now therefore, please let your
servant remain instead of the
boy as a
servant to my
lord, and let the
boy go back with his
brothers.

וְעַתָּה יֵֽשֶׁב־
נָא עַבְדְּךָ תַּחַת הַנַּעַר עֶבֶד לַֽאדֹנִי וְהַנַּעַר יַעַל עִם־
אֶחָֽיו׃

For how can I
go back to my
father if the
boy is
not with me? I
fear to
see the
evil that would
find my
father.”

אֵיךְ אֶֽעֱלֶה אֶל־
אָבִי וְהַנַּעַר אֵינֶנּוּ אִתִּי פֶּן אֶרְאֶה בָרָע אֲשֶׁר יִמְצָא אֶת־

the
angel who has
redeemed me
from all evil,
bless the
boys;
and in them let my
name be
carried on, and the
name of my
fathers Abraham and
Isaac;
and let them
grow into a
multitude in the
midst of the
earth.”
הַמַּלְאָךְ הַגֹּאֵל אֹתִי מִכָּל־
רָע יְבָרֵךְ אֶת־
הַנְּעָרִים וְיִקָּרֵא בָהֶם
שְׁמִי וְשֵׁם אֲבֹתַי אַבְרָהָם וְיִצְחָק וְיִדְגּוּ לָרֹב בְּקֶרֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃

When she
opened it, she
saw the
child, and
behold, the
baby was
crying. She
took pity on him and
said, “This is one of the
Hebrews’
children.”
וַתִּפְתַּח וַתִּרְאֵהוּ אֶת־
הַיֶּלֶד וְהִנֵּה־
נַעַר בֹּכֶה וַתַּחְמֹל עָלָיו וַתֹּאמֶר מִיַּלְדֵי הָֽעִבְרִים זֶֽה׃

Moses said, “We will
go with our
young and our
old. We will
go with our
sons and
daughters and with our
flocks and
herds, for we must hold a
feast to the
Lord.”

And he
sent young men of the
people of
Israel, who
offered burnt offerings and
sacrificed peace offerings of
oxen to the
Lord.

נַעֲרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּֽעֲלוּ עֹלֹת וַֽיִּזְבְּחוּ זְבָחִים שְׁלָמִים לַיהוָה פָּרִֽים׃

Thus the
Lord used to
speak to
Moses face to
face, as a
man speaks to his
friend. When Moses
turned again into the
camp, his
assistant Joshua the
son of
Nun, a
young man, would
not depart from the
tent.
וְדִבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל־
מֹשֶׁה פָּנִים אֶל־
פָּנִים כַּאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר אִישׁ אֶל־
רֵעֵהוּ וְשָׁב אֶל־
הַֽמַּחֲנֶה וּמְשָׁרְתוֹ יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן־
נוּן נַעַר לֹא יָמִישׁ מִתּוֹךְ הָאֹֽהֶל׃ ס

And a
young man ran and
told Moses, “
Eldad and
Medad are
prophesying in the
camp.”
וַיָּרָץ הַנַּעַר וַיַּגֵּד לְמֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמַר אֶלְדָּד וּמֵידָד מִֽתְנַבְּאִים בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

But
God’s anger was
kindled because he
went,
and the
angel of the
Lord took his stand in the
way as his
adversary. Now he was
riding on the
donkey, and his
two servants were with him.
וַיִּֽחַר־
אַף אֱלֹהִים כִּֽי־
הוֹלֵךְ הוּא וַיִּתְיַצֵּב מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה בַּדֶּרֶךְ לְשָׂטָן לוֹ
וְהוּא רֹכֵב עַל־
אֲתֹנוֹ וּשְׁנֵי נְעָרָיו עִמּֽוֹ׃

a
hard-faced nation who shall
not respect the
old or
show mercy to the
young.
גּוֹי עַז פָּנִים אֲשֶׁר לֹא־
יִשָּׂא פָנִים לְזָקֵן וְנַעַר לֹא יָחֹֽן׃
(ESV)
Then they
devoted all in the
city to destruction, both
men and
women,
young and
old,
oxen,
sheep, and
donkeys, with the
edge of the
sword.
וַֽיַּחֲרִימוּ אֶת־
כָּל־
אֲשֶׁר בָּעִיר מֵאִישׁ וְעַד־
אִשָּׁה מִנַּעַר וְעַד־
זָקֵן וְעַד שׁוֹר וָשֶׂה וַחֲמוֹר לְפִי־
חָֽרֶב׃

So the
young men who had been
spies went in and
brought out Rahab and her
father and
mother and
brothers and
all who belonged to her. And they
brought all her
relatives and
put them
outside the
camp of
Israel.
וַיָּבֹאוּ הַנְּעָרִים הַֽמְרַגְּלִים וַיֹּצִיאוּ אֶת־
רָחָב וְאֶת־
אָבִיהָ וְאֶת־
אִמָּהּ וְאֶת־
אַחֶיהָ וְאֶת־
כָּל־
אֲשֶׁר־לָהּ
וְאֵת כָּל־
מִשְׁפְּחוֹתֶיהָ הוֹצִיאוּ וַיַּנִּיחוּם מִחוּץ לְמַחֲנֵה יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

But
if you are
afraid to
go down,
go down to the
camp with
Purah your
servant.
וְאִם־
יָרֵא אַתָּה לָרֶדֶת רֵד אַתָּה וּפֻרָה נַעַרְךָ אֶל־
הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

And you shall
hear what they
say, and
afterward your
hands shall be
strengthened to
go down against the
camp.” Then he
went down with
Purah his
servant to the
outposts of the
armed men who
were in the
camp.
וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ מַה־
יְדַבֵּרוּ וְאַחַר תֶּחֱזַקְנָה יָדֶיךָ וְיָרַדְתָּ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶה וַיֵּרֶד הוּא וּפֻרָה נַעֲרוֹ אֶל־
קְצֵה הַחֲמֻשִׁים אֲשֶׁר בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

And he
captured a
young man of
Succoth and
questioned him. And he
wrote down for him the
officials and
elders of
Succoth,
seventy-seven men.
וַיִּלְכָּד־
נַעַר מֵאַנְשֵׁי סֻכּוֹת וַיִּשְׁאָלֵהוּ וַיִּכְתֹּב אֵלָיו אֶת־
שָׂרֵי סֻכּוֹת וְאֶת־

Jether his
firstborn, “
Rise and
kill them!” But the
young man did
not draw his
sword,
for he was
afraid,
because he was
still a
young man.
וַיֹּאמֶר לְיֶתֶר בְּכוֹרוֹ קוּם הֲרֹג אוֹתָם וְלֹא־
שָׁלַף הַנַּעַר חַרְבּוֹ כִּי יָרֵא כִּי עוֹדֶנּוּ נָֽעַר׃

called quickly to the
young man his
armor-bearer and
said to him, “
Draw your
sword and
kill me, lest they
say of me, ‘A
woman killed him.’” And his
young man thrust him through, and he
died.

נֹשֵׂא כֵלָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ

for behold, you shall
conceive and
bear a
son.
No
razor shall
come upon his
head, for the
child shall be a
Nazirite to
God from the
womb, and he shall
begin to
save Israel from the
hand of the
Philistines.”
כִּי הִנָּךְ הָרָה וְיֹלַדְתְּ בֵּן וּמוֹרָה לֹא־
יַעֲלֶה עַל־
רֹאשׁוֹ כִּֽי־
נְזִיר אֱלֹהִים יִהְיֶה הַנַּעַר מִן־
הַבָּטֶן וְהוּא יָחֵל לְהוֹשִׁיעַ אֶת־
יִשְׂרָאֵל מִיַּד פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

but he
said to me, ‘Behold, you shall
conceive and
bear a
son. So then
drink no
wine or
strong drink, and
eat nothing unclean, for the
child shall be a
Nazirite to
God from the
womb to the
day of his
death.’”

הִנָּךְ הָרָה וְיֹלַדְתְּ בֵּן וְעַתָּה אַל־
תִּשְׁתִּי ׀
יַיִן וְשֵׁכָר וְאַל־
תֹּֽאכְלִי כָּל־
טֻמְאָה כִּֽי־
נְזִיר אֱלֹהִים יִהְיֶה הַנַּעַר מִן־
הַבֶּטֶן עַד־
יוֹם מוֹתֽוֹ׃ פ

Then
Manoah prayed to the
Lord and
said, “
O Lord, please
let the
man of
God whom you
sent come again to us and
teach us what we are to
do with the
child who will be
born.”
וַיֶּעְתַּר מָנוֹחַ אֶל־
יְהוָה וַיֹּאמַר בִּי אֲדוֹנָי אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַחְתָּ יָבוֹא־
נָא עוֹד אֵלֵינוּ וְיוֹרֵנוּ מַֽה־
נַּעֲשֶׂה לַנַּעַר הַיּוּלָּֽד׃

And
Manoah said, “Now when your
words come true, what is to be the
child’s manner of life, and what is his
mission?”
וַיֹּאמֶר מָנוֹחַ עַתָּה יָבֹא דְבָרֶיךָ מַה־
יִּֽהְיֶה מִשְׁפַּט־
הַנַּעַר וּמַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃

And the
woman bore a
son and
called his
name Samson.
And the
young man grew, and the
Lord blessed him.
וַתֵּלֶד הָֽאִשָּׁה בֵּן וַתִּקְרָא אֶת־
שְׁמוֹ שִׁמְשׁוֹן וַיִּגְדַּל הַנַּעַר וַֽיְבָרְכֵהוּ יְהוָֽה׃

And
Samson said to the
young man who
held him by the
hand, “
Let me
feel the
pillars on which the
house rests, that I may
lean against them.”
וַיֹּאמֶר שִׁמְשׁוֹן אֶל־
הַנַּעַר הַמַּחֲזִיק בְּיָדוֹ הַנִּיחָה אוֹתִי והימשני אֶת־
הָֽעַמֻּדִים אֲשֶׁר הַבַּיִת נָכוֹן עֲלֵיהֶם וְאֶשָּׁעֵן עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

Now there was a
young man of
Bethlehem in
Judah, of the
family of
Judah, who was a
Levite, and he
sojourned there.
וַיְהִי־
נַעַר מִבֵּית
לֶחֶם יְהוּדָה מִמִּשְׁפַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְהוּא לֵוִי וְהוּא גָֽר־
שָֽׁם׃

And the
Levite was
content to
dwell with the
man, and the
young man became to him like
one of his
sons.
וַיּוֹאֶל הַלֵּוִי לָשֶׁבֶת אֶת־
הָאִישׁ וַיְהִי הַנַּעַר לוֹ
כְּאַחַד מִבָּנָֽיו׃

And
Micah ordained the
Levite, and the
young man became his
priest, and was in the
house of
Micah.
וַיְמַלֵּא מִיכָה אֶת־
יַד הַלֵּוִי וַיְהִי־לוֹ
הַנַּעַר לְכֹהֵן וַיְהִי בְּבֵית מִיכָֽה׃

When they were by the
house of
Micah, they
recognized the
voice of the
young Levite. And they
turned aside and
said to him, “Who
brought you
here? What are you
doing in this place?
What is your business
here?”
הֵמָּה עִם־
בֵּית מִיכָה וְהֵמָּה הִכִּירוּ אֶת־
קוֹל הַנַּעַר הַלֵּוִי וַיָּסוּרוּ שָׁם וַיֹּאמְרוּ לוֹ
מִֽי־
הֱבִיאֲךָ הֲלֹם וּמָֽה־
אַתָּה עֹשֶׂה בָּזֶה וּמַה־לְּךָ

And they

bring her back. He had with him his
servant and a
couple of
donkeys. And she
brought him into her
father’s house. And when the
girl’s father saw him, he came with
joy to
meet him.
וַיָּקָם אִישָׁהּ וַיֵּלֶךְ אַחֲרֶיהָ לְדַבֵּר עַל־
לִבָּהּ להשיבו וְנַעֲרוֹ עִמּוֹ וְצֶמֶד חֲמֹרִים וַתְּבִיאֵהוּ בֵּית אָבִיהָ וַיִּרְאֵהוּ אֲבִי הַֽנַּעֲרָה וַיִּשְׂמַח לִקְרָאתֽוֹ׃

And when the
man and his
concubine and his
servant rose up to
depart, his
father-in-law, the
girl’s father,
said to him, “
Behold,
now the
day has
waned toward
evening.
Please,
spend the night.
Behold, the
day draws to its
close.
Lodge here and let your
heart be
merry, and
tomorrow you shall arise early in the
morning for your
journey, and
go home.”
וַיָּקָם הָאִישׁ לָלֶכֶת הוּא וּפִילַגְשׁוֹ וְנַעֲרוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ
חֹתְנוֹ אֲבִי הַֽנַּעֲרָה הִנֵּה נָא רָפָה הַיּוֹם לַעֲרֹב לִֽינוּ־
נָא הִנֵּה חֲנוֹת הַיּוֹם לִין פֹּה וְיִיטַב לְבָבֶךָ וְהִשְׁכַּמְתֶּם מָחָר לְדַרְכְּכֶם וְהָלַכְתָּ לְאֹהָלֶֽךָ׃

When they were
near Jebus, the
day was
nearly over, and the
servant said to his
master, “
Come now, let us
turn aside to this
city of the
Jebusites and
spend the night in it.”
הֵם עִם־
יְבוּס וְהַיּוֹם רַד מְאֹד וַיֹּאמֶר הַנַּעַר אֶל־
אֲדֹנָיו לְכָה־
נָּא וְנָסוּרָה אֶל־
עִֽיר־
הַיְבוּסִי הַזֹּאת וְנָלִין בָּֽהּ׃

And he
said to his
young man, “
Come and let us draw
near to
one of these
places and
spend the night at
Gibeah or at
Ramah.”
וַיֹּאמֶר לְנַעֲרוֹ לְךָ וְנִקְרְבָה בְּאַחַד הַמְּקֹמוֹת וְלַנּוּ בַגִּבְעָה אוֹ בָרָמָֽה׃

We
have straw and
feed for our
donkeys, with
bread and
wine for me and your female
servant and the
young man with your
servants.
There is
no lack of
anything.”
וְגַם־
תֶּבֶן גַּם־
מִסְפּוֹא יֵשׁ לַחֲמוֹרֵינוּ וְגַם לֶחֶם וָיַיִן יֶשׁ־לִי
וְלַֽאֲמָתֶךָ וְלַנַּעַר עִם־
עֲבָדֶיךָ אֵין מַחְסוֹר כָּל־
דָּבָֽר׃

Then
Boaz said to his
young man who was in
charge of the
reapers, “
Whose young woman is
this?”
וַיֹּאמֶר בֹּעַז לְנַעֲרוֹ הַנִּצָּב עַל־
הַקּֽוֹצְרִים לְמִי הַנַּעֲרָה הַזֹּֽאת׃

And the
servant who was in
charge of the
reapers answered, “She is the young
Moabite woman,
who came
back with
Naomi from the
country of
Moab.
וַיַּעַן הַנַּעַר הַנִּצָּב עַל־
הַקּוֹצְרִים וַיֹּאמַר נַעֲרָה מֽוֹאֲבִיָּה הִיא הַשָּׁבָה עִֽם־
נָעֳמִי מִשְּׂדֵה מוֹאָֽב׃

Let your
eyes be on the
field that they are
reaping, and
go after them. Have I not
charged the
young men not to
touch you? And when you are
thirsty,
go to the
vessels and
drink what the
young men have
drawn.”
עֵינַיִךְ בַּשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר־
יִקְצֹרוּן וְהָלַכְתִּ אַחֲרֵיהֶן הֲלוֹא צִוִּיתִי אֶת־
הַנְּעָרִים לְבִלְתִּי נָגְעֵךְ וְצָמִת וְהָלַכְתְּ אֶל־
הַכֵּלִים וְשָׁתִית מֵאֲשֶׁר יִשְׁאֲבוּן הַנְּעָרִֽים׃

When she
rose to
glean,
Boaz instructed his
young men,
saying, “Let her
glean even among the
sheaves, and do
not reproach her.
וַתָּקָם לְלַקֵּט וַיְצַו בֹּעַז אֶת־
נְעָרָיו לֵאמֹר גַּם בֵּין הָֽעֳמָרִים תְּלַקֵּט וְלֹא תַכְלִימֽוּהָ׃

And
Ruth the
Moabite said, “
Besides, he
said to me, ‘You shall
keep close by my
young men until they have
finished all my
harvest.’”
וַתֹּאמֶר רוּת הַמּוֹאֲבִיָּה גַּם ׀
כִּי־
אָמַר אֵלַי עִם־
הַנְּעָרִים אֲשֶׁר־לִי
תִּדְבָּקִין עַד אִם־
כִּלּוּ אֵת כָּל־
הַקָּצִיר אֲשֶׁר־לִֽי׃

But
Hannah did not
go up, for she
said to her
husband, “As soon as the
child is
weaned, I will
bring him, so that he may
appear in the presence
of the
Lord and
dwell there
forever.”
וְחַנָּה לֹא עָלָתָה כִּֽי־
אָמְרָה לְאִישָׁהּ עַד יִגָּמֵל הַנַּעַר וַהֲבִאֹתִיו וְנִרְאָה אֶת־
פְּנֵי יְהוָה וְיָשַׁב שָׁם עַד־
עוֹלָֽם׃
