5 but ^afor Cain and his offering He had no regard. So ^bCain became very angry and his face ^{▼▼Lit fell}was gloomy. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “ ^dWhy are you angry? And why is your face ^{▼▼Lit fallen}gloomy? 7 ^fIf you do well, ^{▼▼Or you will certainly be accepted}will your face not be ^{▼▼Lit lifted up}cheerful? ⁱAnd if you do not do well, sin is lurking at the door; and its desire is for you, ^jbut you must master it.” 8 Cain ^{▼▼Lit said to}talked to his brother Abel; and it happened that when they were in the field Cain rose up against his brother Abel and ^lkilled him.
