Now when Jerusalem was captured ▼▼Ch 39:1 in Heb
cin the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came to Jerusalem and laid siege to it; 2in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the city wall was dbreached. 3Then all the eofficials of the king of Babylon came in and sat down at the fMiddle Gate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, Sar-sekim the ▼▼I.e., chief official

Rab-mag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon. 4And when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, they ifled and left the city at night by way of the king’s garden through the gate jbetween the two walls; and he went out toward the ▼▼I.e., Jordan valley
Arabah. 5But the army of the lChaldeans pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the mplains of Jericho; and they took him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at nRiblah in the land of Hamath, and he ▼▼Lit spoke judgments with
passed sentence on him. 6Then the pking of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah qbefore his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also slaughtered all the rnobles of Judah. 7He then sblinded Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in tshackles of bronze to bring him to uBabylon. 8The Chaldeans also vburned the king’s palace and the houses of the people with fire, and they wtore down the walls of Jerusalem. 9And as for the rest of the people who were left in the city, the xdeserters who had deserted to him and ythe rest of the people who remained, zNebuzaradan the aacaptain of the bodyguard took them into exile in Babylon.
