What God Requires of Mankind

6 ^aWith what shall I come to the Lord
And bow myself before the God on high?
Shall I come to Him with ^bburnt offerings,
With yearling calves?
7 Does the Lord take pleasure in ^cthousands of rams,
In ten thousand rivers of ^{▼▼I.e., olive oil}oil?
Shall I give Him my ^efirstborn for my wrongdoings,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 He has ^ftold you, mortal one, what is good;
And ^gwhat does the Lord require of you
But to ^hdo justice, to ⁱlove ^{▼▼Or loyalty}kindness,
And to walk ^{▼▼Or circumspectly} ^lhumbly with your God?
