‏ Zechariah 9

Prophecies against Neighboring Nations

1 The pronouncement of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach, with aDamascus as its resting place (for the eyes of mankind, especially of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the Lord),
2 And bHamath also, which borders on it;
cTyre and dSidon,
Or because
though
I.e., they think they are
they are gvery wise.

3 For Tyre built herself a hfortress,
And ipiled up silver like dust,
And jgold like the mud of the streets.

4 Behold, the Lord will kdispossess her
And throw her wealth into the sea;
And she will be lconsumed with fire.

5 Ashkelon will see it and be afraid.
Gaza too will writhe in great pain;
Also Ekron, because her hope has been ruined.
Moreover, the king will perish from Gaza,
And Ashkelon will not be inhabited.

6 And a people of mixed origins will live in mAshdod,
And I will eliminate the pride of the Philistines.

7 And I will remove their blood from their mouth
And their detestable things from between their teeth.
Then they also will be a remnant for our God,
And be like a
Or chief
clan in Judah,
And Ekron will be like a Jebusite.

8 But I will camp around My house
Or as a garrison, so that none will go back and forth
because of an army,
Because of phim who passes by and returns;
And qno oppressor will pass over them anymore,
For now I have seen with My eyes.

9 rRejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your sking is coming to you;
He is
Or vindicated and victorious
urighteous and vendowed with salvation,
wHumble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a xcolt, the
Lit son of a female donkey
foal of a donkey.

10 And I will zeliminate the chariot from Ephraim
And the aahorse from Jerusalem;
And the abbow of war will be eliminated.
And He will speak acpeace to the nations;
And His addominion will be from sea to sea,
And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

Restoration of Judah and Ephraim

11 As for you also, because of the aeblood of My covenant with you,
I have set your afprisoners free from the
Lit cistern in which there is no water
waterless pit.

12 Return to the
Or Stronghold
aistronghold, you prisoners
Lit of the hope
who have the akhope;
This very day I am declaring that I will restore aldouble to you.

13 For I will ambend Judah
Lit for Me as a bow
as My bow,
I will fill the bow with Ephraim.
And I will stir up your sons, Zion, against your sons, aoGreece;
And I will make you like a apwarrior’s sword.

14 Then the Lord will appear aqover them,
And His ararrow will go forth like lightning;
And the Lord
Heb YHWH, usually rendered Lord
God will blow the attrumpet,
And march in the austorm winds of the south.

15 avThe Lord of armies will protect them.
And they will awdevour and trample on the axslingstones;
And they will drink and be ayboisterous as with wine;
And they will be filled like a sacrificial basin,
Drenched like the azcorners of the altar.

16 And the Lord their God will basave them on that day
As the flock of His people;
For they are like the precious stones of a bbcrown,
Sparkling on His land.

17 For how great will
Lit his
their bdloveliness and bebeauty be!
Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine, the virgins.
