2 Samuel 22

David’s Psalm of Deliverance

a And David spoke b the words of this song to the  Lord in the day that the  Lord delivered him from the

hand of all his enemies and from the

hand of Saul.
He said, e “The  Lord is my

rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
Lit God of my rock
h My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
My i shield and j the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and k my refuge;
My savior, You save me from violence.
I call upon the  Lord l who is worthy to be praised,
And I am saved from my enemies.
“For m the waves of death encompassed me;
n The torrents of

Or terrified
overwhelmed me;
q The cords of

The snares of death confronted me.
s In my distress I called upon the  Lord,

And from His temple He heard my voice,

10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down

16 Then the channels of the sea appeared,

From those who hated me, for they were too strong for me.

And I kept myself from my iniquity.
25  ax “Therefore the  Lord has recompensed me according to my righteousness,

By my God I can leap over a wall.
31  bl As for God, His way is

cn I crushed and stamped them as the mire of the streets.
44  co You have also delivered me from the contentions of my people;

cq A people whom I have not known serve me.

And I will sing praises to Your name.
