2 Thessalonians 3

Exhortation

1 a  Finally, brethren b  pray for us that c  the word of the Lord will
Lit run
spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;
2and that we will be e  rescued from
Lit improper
perverse and evil men; for not all have
Or the faith
faith.
3But h  the Lord is faithful,
Lit who will
and He will strengthen and protect you
Or from evil
from k  the evil one.
4We have l  confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you m  are doing and will continue to do what we command. 5May the Lord n  direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

6Now we command you, brethren o  in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you
Or avoid
,
q  keep away from every brother who
Lit walks disorderly
leads an
Or undisciplined
,
t  unruly life and not according to u  the tradition which
One early ms reads they
you received from us.
7For you yourselves know how you ought to
Lit imitate us
,
x  follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you,
8nor did we y  eat
Lit from anyone
anyone’s bread
Lit freely
without paying for it, but with ab  labor and hardship we kept ac  working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;
9not because we do not have ad  the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves ae  as a model for you, so that you would
Lit imitate us
follow our example.
10For even ag  when we were with you, we used to give you this order: ah  if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 11For we hear that some among you are ai  leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like aj  busybodies. 12Now such persons we command and ak  exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to al  work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread. 13But as for you, am  brethren, an  do not grow weary of doing good.

14If anyone does not obey our
Lit word
instruction
Lit through
,
aq  in this letter, take special note of that person
Lit not to associate
,
as  and do not associate with him, so that he will be at  put to shame.
15Yet au  do not regard him as an enemy, but
Or keep admonishing
,
aw  admonish him as a ax  brother.

16Now ay  may the Lord of peace az  Himself continually grant you peace in every
Lit way
circumstance. bb  The Lord be with you all!

17
Lit The greeting by my hand of Paul
I, Paul, write this greeting bd  with my own hand, and this is a distinguishing mark in every letter; this is the way I write.
18 be  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
