2 Timothy 2

Be Strong

You therefore, my
Or child
b son c be strong in the grace that is in d Christ Jesus.
The things e which you have heard from me in the presence of f many witnesses, g entrust these to h faithful men who will be i able to teach others also. j Suffer hardship with me, as a good k soldier of l Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service m entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. Also if anyone n competes as an athlete, he
Lit is not crowned
does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.
p The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

Remember Jesus Christ q risen from the dead r descendant of David s according to my gospel,
Lit in which
for which I u suffer hardship even to v imprisonment as a w criminal; but x the word of God y is not imprisoned.
10 For this reason z I endure all things for aa the sake of those who are chosen ab so that they also may obtain the ac salvation which is in ad Christ Jesus and with it ae eternal glory. 11  af It is a trustworthy statement: For ag if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure ah we will also reign with Him;
If we
Lit will deny
aj deny Him, He also will deny us;
13 If we are faithless ak He remains faithful, for al He cannot deny Himself.

An Unashamed Workman

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly am charge them in the presence of God not to an wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to ao present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling ap the word of truth. 16 But aq avoid ar worldly and empty chatter, for
Lit they will make further progress in ungodliness
it will lead to further ungodliness,
17 and their
Lit word
talk will spread like
Or cancer
gangrene. Among them are av Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that aw the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset ax the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the ay firm foundation of God stands, having this az seal ba The Lord knows those who are His,” and, bb Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”

20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and bc some to honor and some to dishonor. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from bd these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master be prepared for every good work. 22 Now bf flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness bg faith, love and peace, with those who bh call on the Lord bi from a pure heart. 23 But refuse foolish and ignorant bj speculations, knowing that they bk produce
Lit fightings
24  bm The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all bn able to teach, patient when wronged, 25  bo with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition bp if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to bq the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from br the snare of the devil, having been bs held captive
Or by him, to do His will
by him to do his will.
