Isaiah 55

The Free Offer of Mercy

Ho! Every one who a thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have b no
Lit silver
money come, buy and eat.
Come, buy d wine and milk
e Without money and without cost.
Why do you
Lit weigh out silver
spend money for what is g not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and h eat what is good,
And i delight yourself in abundance.
j Incline your ear and come to Me.
Listen, that
Lit your soul
you may l live;
And I will make m an everlasting covenant with you,
According to the n faithful mercies
Lit of David
shown to David.
Behold, I have made p him a witness to the peoples,
A q leader and commander for the peoples.
Behold, you will call a r nation you do not know,
And a nation which knows you not will s run to you,
Because of the  Lord your God, even the Holy One of Israel;
For He has t glorified you.”

u Seek the  Lord while He may be found;
v Call upon Him while He is near.
w Let the wicked forsake his way
And the unrighteous man his x thoughts;
And let him y return to the  Lord,
And He will have z compassion on him,
And to our God,
For He will aa abundantly pardon.
For My thoughts are not ab your thoughts,
Nor are ac your ways My ways,” declares the  Lord.
“For ad  as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “For as the ae rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing af seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My ag word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will ah not return to Me empty,
Without ai accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
12 For you will go out with aj joy
And be led forth with ak peace;
The al mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you,
And all the am trees of the field will clap their hands.
13 Instead of the an thorn bush the ao cypress will come up,
And instead of the ap nettle the myrtle will come up,
And
I.e. the transformation of the desert
it will be a
Lit name
,
as memorial to the  Lord,
For an everlasting at sign which au will not be cut off.”
