Jonah 2

Jonah’s Prayer

Ch 2:2 in Heb
Then Jonah prayed to the  Lord his God b  from the stomach of the fish,
2and he said, “I c  called out of my distress to the  Lord,
And He answered me.
I cried for help from the
Lit belly
depth of e  Sheol;
You heard my voice.
3“For You had f  cast me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the current
Lit surrounded
engulfed me.
All Your h  breakers and billows passed over me.
4So I said, ‘I have been i  expelled from
Lit before Your eyes
Your sight.
Nevertheless I will look again k  toward Your holy temple.’
5 l  Water encompassed me to the
Lit soul
point of death.
The great n  deep
Lit surrounded
engulfed me,
Weeds were wrapped around my head.
6“I p  descended to the roots of the mountains.
The earth with its q  bars was around me forever,
But You have r  brought up my life from
Or corruption
the pit, O  Lord my God.
Lit my soul...within me
I was u  fainting away,
I v  remembered the  Lord,
And my w  prayer came to You,
Into x  Your holy temple.
8“Those who y  regard
Lit empty vanities
vain idols
Forsake their faithfulness,
9But I will aa  sacrifice to You
With the voice of thanksgiving.
That which I have vowed I will ab  pay.
ac  Salvation is from the  Lord.”

10Then the  Lord commanded the ad  fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
