The Genealogy of Jesus the Messiah

11Josiah became the father of
Jehoiachin in 2 Kin 24:15
Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the t  deportation to Babylon.

12After the u  deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah became the father of
Gr Salathiel
Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel.
13Zerubbabel was the father of
Gr Abioud, usually spelled Abiud
Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor.
14Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud. 15Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob. 16Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born x  who is called
Gr Christos ( Christ)
the Messiah.

17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the z  deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the aa  deportation to Babylon to
Gr Christos ( Christ)
the Messiah, fourteen generations.

Conception and Birth of Jesus

18Now the birth of Jesus
I.e. The Messiah

21She will bear a Son; and al  you shall call His name Jesus, for

22Now all this

took place to fulfill what was ap  spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 aq  Behold, the virgin shall be with ar  child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Or Emmanuel
Immanuel,” which translated means at  God with us.”
24And Joseph
Lit got up
awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife,
25
Lit and was not knowing her
but kept her a virgin until she aw  gave birth to a Son; and ax  he called His name Jesus.
