Psalms 129

Prayer for the Overthrow of Zion’s Enemies.

A Song of Ascents.

Lit Much
Many times they have
Lit showed hostility toward
,
c persecuted me from my d youth up,”
e Let Israel now say,
Lit Much
Many times they have
Lit showed hostility toward
persecuted me from my youth up;
Yet they have h not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed upon my back;
They lengthened their furrows.”
The  Lord i is righteous;
He has cut in two the j cords of the wicked.

May all who k hate Zion
Be l put to shame and turned backward;
Let them be like m grass upon the housetops,
Which withers before it
Lit draws out
grows up;
With which the reaper does not fill his
Lit palm
hand,
Or the binder of sheaves his p bosom;
Nor do those who pass by say,
“The q blessing of the  Lord be upon you;
We bless you in the name of the  Lord.”
