Psalms 141

An Evening Prayer for Sanctification and Protection.

A Psalm of David.

1 O  Lord, I call upon You; a  hasten to me!
b  Give ear to my voice when I call to You!
2May my prayer be
Lit fixed
counted as d  incense before You;
The e  lifting up of my hands as the f  evening offering.
3Set a g  guard, O  Lord
Lit to
over my mouth;
Keep watch over the i  door of my lips.
4 j  Do not incline my heart to any evil thing,
To practice deeds
Lit in
of wickedness
With men who l  do iniquity;
And m  do not let me eat of their delicacies.

5Let the n  righteous smite me
Or lovingly
in kindness and reprove me;
It is p  oil upon the head;
Do not let my head refuse it,
Lit And my prayer
For still my prayer r  is
Or in spite of their calamities
against their wicked deeds.
6Their judges are t  thrown down by the sides of the rock,
And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.
7As when one u  plows and breaks open the earth,
Our v  bones have been scattered at the w  mouth of
I.e. the nether world
Sheol.

8For my y  eyes are toward You, O
Heb YHWH, usually rendered  Lord
 God, the Lord;
In You I aa  take refuge; ab  do not
Lit pour out my soul
leave me defenseless.
9Keep me from the
Lit hands of the trap
,
ae  jaws of the trap which they have set for me,
And from the af  snares of those who do iniquity.
10Let the wicked ag  fall into their own nets,
While I pass by
Lit altogether
,
ai  safely.
