Psalms 142

Prayer for Help in Trouble.

Possibly Contemplative, or Didactic, or Skillful Psalm
Maskil of David, when he was
1 Sam 22:1; 24:3
in the cave. A Prayer.

1 I c  cry aloud with my voice to the  Lord;
I d  make supplication with my voice to the  Lord.
2I e  pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare my f  trouble before Him.
3When g  my spirit
Lit fainted
was overwhelmed within me,
You knew my path.
In the way where I walk
They have i  hidden a trap for me.
4Look to the right and see;
For there is j  no one who regards me;
Lit Escape has perished from me
There is no l  escape for me;
m  No one cares for my soul.

5I cried out to You, O  Lord;
I said, “You are n  my refuge,
My o  portion in the p  land of the living.
6 q  Give heed to my cry,
For I am r  brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are too s  strong for me.
7 t  Bring my soul out of prison,
So that I may give thanks to Your name;
The righteous will surround me,
For You will u  deal bountifully with me.”
