1 b  Preserve me, O God, for c  I take refuge in You.

Or O my soul, you said
I said to the  Lord, “You are
Or the Lord
my Lord;
I f  have no good besides You.”
3As for the
Lit holy ones; i.e. the godly
,
h  saints who are in the earth,
Lit And the majestic ones...delight
They are the majestic ones j  in whom is all my delight.
4The
I.e. sorrows due to idolatry

l  sorrows of those who have
Or hastened to
bartered for another god will be multiplied;
I shall not pour out their drink offerings of n  blood,
Nor will I o  take their names upon my lips.

5The  Lord is the p  portion of my inheritance and my q  cup;
You support my r  lot.
6The s  lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my heritage is t  beautiful to me.

7I will bless the  Lord who has u  counseled me;
Indeed, my
Lit kidneys, figurative for inner man
,
w  mind instructs me in the night.
8 x  I have y  set the  Lord continually before me;
Because He is z  at my right hand aa  I will not be shaken.
9Therefore ab  my heart is glad and ac  my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will ad  dwell securely.
10For You ae  will not abandon my soul to
I.e. the nether world
Sheol;
Nor will You
Lit give
,
ah  allow Your
Or godly one
Holy One to
Or see corruption or the pit
undergo decay.
11You will make known to me ak  the path of life;
In al  Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are am  pleasures forever.
