Psalms 17

Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.

A Prayer of David.

1 Hear a a  just cause, O  Lord, b  give heed to my cry;
c  Give ear to my prayer, which is not from d  deceitful lips.
2Let e  my
I.e. vindication
judgment come forth from Your presence;
Let Your eyes look with g  equity.
3You have h  tried my heart;
You have visited me by night;
You have i  tested me and j  You find
Or no evil device in me; My mouth
I have l  purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
4As for the deeds of men m  by the word of Your lips
I have kept from the n  paths of the violent.
5My o  steps have held fast to Your
Lit tracks
My q  feet have not slipped.

6I have r  called upon You, for You will answer me, O God;
s  Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 t  Wondrously show Your lovingkindness,
O u  Savior of those who take refuge
Or from those who rise Your right hand
at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
8Keep me as
Lit the pupil, the daughter of the eye
the x  apple of the eye;
Hide me y  in the shadow of Your wings
9From the z  wicked who despoil me,
My aa  deadly enemies who surround me.
10They have ab  closed their
Lit fat
unfeeling heart,
With their mouth they ad  speak proudly.
11They have now ae  surrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes af  to cast us down to the ground.
12He is ag  like a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion ah  lurking in hiding places.

13 ai  Arise, O  Lord, confront him, aj  bring him low;
ak  Deliver my soul from the wicked with al  Your sword,
14From men with am  Your hand, O  Lord,
From men
Or whose portion in life is of the world
of the world ao  whose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You ap  fill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their abundance to their babes.
15As for me, I shall aq  behold Your face in righteousness;
ar  I will be satisfied
Or with beholding
with Your at  likeness when I awake.
