Psalms 64

Prayer for Deliverance from Secret Enemies.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my voice, O God, in a  my
Or concern
complaint;
c  Preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the d  secret counsel of evildoers,
From the tumult of e  those who do iniquity,
3Who f  have sharpened their tongue like a sword.
They g  aimed bitter speech as their arrow,
4To h  shoot
Lit in
from concealment at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and j  do not fear.
5They
Lit make firm
hold fast to themselves an evil purpose;
They
Lit tell of
talk of m  laying snares secretly;
They say n  Who can see them?”
6They
Or search out
devise injustices, saying,
“We are
Lit complete
ready with a well-conceived plot”;
For the
Or inward part
,
r  inward thought and the heart of a man are
Or unsearchable
deep.

7But t  God
Or shot
will shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly
Or they were wounded; lit their wounds occurred
they will be wounded.
8So
Or they make their tongue a stumbling for themselves
they
Or made
will y  make him stumble;
z  Their own tongue is against them;
All who see them will aa  shake the head.
9Then all men
Or feared
will ac  fear,
And they
Or declared
will ae  declare the work of God,
And
Or considered
will consider
Lit His work
what He has done.
10The righteous man will be ah  glad in the  Lord and will ai  take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will glory.
