O  Lord, the c God of my salvation,
I have d cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer e come before You;
f Incline Your ear to my cry!
For my g soul has
Or been satisfied with
had enough troubles,
And i my life has drawn near to
I.e. the nether world
I am reckoned among those who k go down to the pit;
I have become like a man l without strength,
Lit A freed one among the dead
Forsaken n among the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom You remember no more,
And they are o cut off from Your hand.
You have put me in p the lowest pit,
In q dark places, in the r depths.
Your wrath s has rested upon me,
And You have afflicted me with t all Your waves.
Selah may mean: Pause, Crescendo or Musical interlude
You have removed v my acquaintances far from me;
You have made me an
Lit abomination to them
x object of loathing to them;
I am y shut up and cannot go out.
My z eye has wasted away because of affliction;
I have aa called upon You every day, O  Lord;
I have ab spread out my
Lit palms
hands to You.

10 Will You perform wonders for the dead?
Will ad the
Or ghosts, shades
departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.
11 Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave,
Your faithfulness in
I.e. place of destruction
12 Will Your wonders be made known in the ag darkness?
And Your
I.e. faithfulness to His gracious promises
righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But I, O  Lord, have cried out ai to You for help,
And aj in the morning my prayer comes before You.
14 O  Lord, why ak do You reject my soul?
Why do You al hide Your face from me?
15 I was afflicted and am about to die from my youth on;
I suffer an Your terrors; I am
Or embarrassed
16 Your ap burning anger has passed over me;
Your terrors have
Or silenced
ar destroyed me.
17 They have as surrounded me at like water all day long;
They have au encompassed me altogether.
18 You have removed av lover and friend far from me;
My acquaintances are in darkness.
