Psalms 90

God’s Eternity and Man’s Transitoriness.

A Prayer of
Deut 33:1
Moses, the man of God.

1 Lord, You have been our
Or hiding place; some ancient mss read place of refuge
c  dwelling place in all generations.
2Before d  the mountains were born
Or And
Or You f  gave birth to the earth and the world,
Even g  from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

3You h  turn man back into dust
And say, “Return, O children of men.”
4For i  a thousand years in Your sight
Are like j  yesterday when it passes by,
Or And
Or as a l  watch in the night.
5You m  have
Or flooded
swept them away like a flood, they
Lit become asleep
p  fall asleep;
In the morning they are like q  grass which
Or passes away
sprouts anew.
6In the morning it s  flourishes and
Or passes away
sprouts anew;
Toward evening it u  fades and v  withers away.

7For we have been w  consumed by Your anger
And by Your wrath we have been
Or terrified
8You have y  placed our iniquities before You,
Our z  secret sins in the light of Your presence.
9For aa  all our days have declined in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a
Or whisper
10As for the days of our
Lit years
Lit in them are
they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength ae  eighty years,
Yet their pride is but af  labor and sorrow;
For soon it is gone and we ag  fly away.
Or knows
understands the ai  power of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the aj  fear
Lit of You
that is due You?
12So al  teach us to number our days,
That we may
Or gain, bring in
an  present to You a heart of wisdom.

13Do ao  return, O  Lord; ap  how long will it be?
Or repent in regard to
be ar  sorry for Your servants.
14O as  satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
That we may at  sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 au  Make us glad
Or as many days as
according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the aw  years we have seen
Or trouble
16Let Your ay  work appear to Your servants
And Your az  majesty
Or upon
to their children.
17Let the bb  favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
Or give permanence to
bd  confirm for us the work of our hands;
Or give permanence to
confirm the work of our hands.
