Revelation of John 20

Satan Bound

1Then I saw a  an angel coming down from heaven, holding the b  key of the abyss and a great chain
Lit upon
in his hand.
2And he laid hold of the d  dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and e  bound him for a thousand years; 3and he threw him into the f  abyss, and shut it and g  sealed it over him, so that he would h  not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

4Then I saw i  thrones, and j  they sat on them, and k  judgment was given to them. And I saw l  the souls of those who had been beheaded because of
Lit the
their n  testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not o  worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the p  mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they q  came to life and r  reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. s  This is the first resurrection. 6 t  Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the u  second death has no power, but they will be v  priests of God and of Christ and will w  reign with Him for a thousand years.

Satan Freed, Doomed

7When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be x  released from his prison, 8and will come out to y  deceive the nations which are in the z  four corners of the earth aa  Gog and Magog, to ab  gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the ac  sand of the
Lit sea
seashore.
9And they ae  came up on the
Lit breadth of the earth
broad plain of the earth and surrounded the ag  camp of the
Or holy ones
saints and the ai  beloved city, and aj  fire came down from heaven and devoured them.
10And ak  the devil who al  deceived them was thrown into the am  lake of fire and
I.e. burning sulphur
brimstone, where the ao  beast and the ap  false prophet are also; and they will be aq  tormented day and night forever and ever.

Judgment at the Throne of God

11Then I saw a great white ar  throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose
Lit face
presence at  earth and heaven fled away, and au  no place was found for them.
12And I saw the dead, the av  great and the small, standing before the throne, and
Or scrolls
,
ax  books were opened; and another
Or scroll
book was opened, which is az  the book of life; and the dead ba  were judged from the things which were written in the
Or scrolls
books bc  according to their deeds.
13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and bd  death and Hades be  gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them bf  according to their deeds. 14Then bg  death and Hades were thrown into bh  the lake of fire. This is the bi  second death, the lake of fire. 15And if
Lit anyone was
anyone’s name was not found written in bk  the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
