So Bathsheba went to see the aged king in his room, where Abishag the Shunammite was attending him.

Bathsheba bowed down, prostrating herself before the king.
‘What is it you want?’ the king asked.

Then King David said, ‘Call in Bathsheba.’ So she came into the king’s presence and stood before him.

Now Adonijah, the son of Haggith, went to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. Bathsheba asked him, ‘Do you come peacefully?’
He answered, ‘Yes, peacefully.’

Adonijah the

Haggith came to Bathsheba the
mother of
Solomon. And she
said,
“Do you
come peacefully?” He
said, “
Peacefully.”

‘Very well,’ Bathsheba replied, ‘I will speak to the king for you.’

Bathsheba said, “Very
well;

speak for you
to the
king.”

When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king’s mother, and she sat down at his right hand.

Bathsheba went to King Solomon to
speak to him
on behalf of
Adonijah. And the
king rose to
meet her and
bowed down to her. Then he
sat on his
throne and had a
seat brought for the
king’s mother,
and she
sat on
his right.

Shammua, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon. These four were by Bathsheba daughter of Ammiel.
