When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and the people playing pipes,

commotion,

‘Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.’

“Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.”

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’

But Martha was
distracted with much serving.
And she
went up to him and
said, “
Lord, do
you not care that my sister has
left me to
serve alone?
Tell her then to help me.”

But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the market-place, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.

But the

jealous, and
taking some wicked men of the
rabble,
they formed a
mob, set the
city in an
uproar,
and attacked the
house of
Jason,
seeking to
bring them out to the
crowd.

Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms round him. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘He’s alive!’

But Paul went down and
bent over him,
and taking him in his
arms,
said,
“Do
not be
alarmed,
for his life is in him.”

I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

not to lay any
restraint upon
you,
but to
promote good order and to
secure your undivided devotion to the
Lord.
