If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.

For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship.

Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you,

I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fulness –

of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,

or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work – which is by faith.
