Dispensationally, the scene speaks of Israel the nation, cast out of the Land of Promise because of evil-doing there, but holding the promise of restoration and blessing ; Genesis 28:15; Deuteronomy 30:1-10. To "an Israelite indeed" Christ speaks of Jacob's vision as to be fulfilled in the Son of man (cf) ; Genesis 28:12; John 1:47-51. angels (See Scofield "Hebrews 1:4") . Bethel i.e. the house of God. Cf. Genesis 35:7.
