1 Chronicles 12:1-15

The Mighty Men Join David

1 aNow these are the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he could not move about freely because of Saul the son of Kish. And they were among the mighty men who helped him in war. 2They bwere bowmen and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the cleft hand; they were Benjaminites, dSaul’s kinsmen. 3The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, both sons of Shemaah of eGibeah; also Jeziel and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; Beracah, Jehu of fAnathoth, 4Ishmaiah of gGibeon, a mighty man among the thirty and a leader over the thirty; Jeremiah,

Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah the Haruphite;
6Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, and Jashobeam, the jKorahites; 7And Joelah and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

8From the Gadites there went over to David at the stronghold in the wilderness mighty and experienced warriors, expert with shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions and who were kswift as gazelles upon the mountains: 9Ezer the chief, Obadiah second, Eliab third, 10Mishmannah fourth, Jeremiah fifth, 11Attai sixth, Eliel seventh, 12Johanan eighth, Elzabad ninth, 13Jeremiah tenth, Machbannai eleventh. 14These Gadites were officers of the army; the least was a lmatch for a hundred men and the greatest for a thousand. 15These are the men who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it was moverflowing all its banks, and put to flight all those in the valleys, to the east and to the west.

Psalms 35:27

27 Let those who delight in my righteousness
shout for joy and be glad
nand say evermore,
oGreat is the Lord,
who pdelights in the welfare of his servant!”

Psalms 68:18

18 qYou ascended on high,
rleading a host of captives in your train
and sreceiving gifts among men,
even among tthe rebellious, uthat the Lord God may dwell there.

Proverbs 18:16-24

16A man’s vgift makes room for him
and brings him before the great.
17The one who states his case first seems right,
until the other comes and examines him.
18 wThe lot puts an end to quarrels
and decides between powerful contenders.
19A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city,
and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.
20 xFrom the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied;
he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.
21 yDeath and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.
22He who finds za wife finds aaa good thing
and abobtains favor acfrom the Lord.
23The poor use entreaties,
but adthe rich answer roughly.
24A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but aethere is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Isaiah 32:8

8But he who is noble plans noble things,
and on noble things he stands.
