1 Chronicles 17:4

4Go and tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: aIt is not you who will build me a house to dwell in.

1 Chronicles 17:12-13

12He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 bI will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, cas I took it from him who was before you,

1 Chronicles 22:7-9

7David said to Solomon, “My son, dI had it in my heart to build a house to the name of the Lord my God. 8But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, e‘You have shed much blood and have waged great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed so much blood before me on the earth. 9Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. fI will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. gFor his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.

1 Chronicles 28:2-4

2Then King David rose to his feet and said: “Hear me, my brothers and my people. hI had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the ifootstool of our God, and I made preparations for building. 3But God said to me, j‘You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’ 4Yet the Lord God of Israel kchose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel lforever. mFor he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah my father’s nhouse, and among my father’s sons he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.
