A Genealogy of David

1These are the sons of aIsrael: bReuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, cIssachar, Zebulun, 2 dDan, eJoseph, fBenjamin, gNaphtali, hGad, and Asher.

1 Chronicles 12:23-40

23These are the numbers of the divisions of the armed troops iwho came to David in Hebron jto turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, kaccording to the word of the Lord. 24The men of Judah bearing shield and spear were 6,800 armed troops. 25Of the Simeonites, mighty men of valor for war, 7,100. 26Of the Levites 4,600. 27The prince Jehoiada, of the house of Aaron, and with him 3,700. 28 lZadok, a young man mighty in valor, and twenty-two commanders from his own fathershouse. 29Of the Benjaminites, mthe kinsmen of Saul, 3,000, of whom the nmajority had to that point kept their allegiance to the house of Saul. 30Of the Ephraimites 20,800, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathershouses. 31Of the half-tribe of Manasseh 18,000, who were oexpressly named to come and make David king. 32Of Issachar, men who phad understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs, and all their kinsmen under their command. 33Of Zebulun 50,000 seasoned troops, qequipped for battle with all the weapons of war, to help David

34Of Naphtali 1,000 commanders with whom were 37,000 men armed with shield and spear. 35Of the Danites 28,600 men equipped for battle. 36Of tAsher 40,000 useasoned troops vready for battle. 37Of the Reubenites and Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh from beyond the Jordan, 120,000 men armed with all the weapons of war.

38All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with wa whole heart to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel were of a xsingle mind to make David king. 39And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brothers had made preparation for them. 40And also their relatives, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on donkeys and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of flour, ycakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.

16Over the tribes of Israel, for the Reubenites, Eliezer the son of Zichri was chief officer; for the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah; 17for Levi, zHashabiah the son of Kemuel; for Aaron, aaZadok; 18for Judah, Elihu, one of David’s brothers; for Issachar, Omri the son of Michael; 19for Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; for Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel; 20for the Ephraimites, Hoshea the son of Azaziah; for the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah; 21for the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; for Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner; 22for Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the ableaders of the tribes of Israel.

4And acI heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

5 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
612,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
712,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
812,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
