1 Chronicles 28:9

David’s Charge to Solomon

9“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a awhole heart and with a willing mind, bfor the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. cIf you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

Psalms 44:9-26

9 But you have drejected us and disgraced us
and ehave not gone out with our armies.
10You have made us fturn back from the foe,
and those who hate us have gotten spoil.
11You have made us like gsheep for slaughter
and have hscattered us among the nations.
12 iYou have sold your people for a trifle,
demanding no high price for them.
13You have made us jthe taunt of our neighbors,
the derision and kscorn of those around us.
14You have made us la byword among the nations,
ma laughingstock
Hebrew  a shaking of the head
among the peoples.
15All day long my disgrace is before me,
and oshame has covered my face
16at the sound of the taunter and reviler,
at the sight of pthe enemy and the avenger.
17 qAll this has come upon us,
though we have not forgotten you,
and we have not been false to your covenant.
18Our heart has not turned back,
nor have our rsteps sdeparted from your way;
19yet you have tbroken us in the place of ujackals
and covered us with vthe shadow of death.
20If we had forgotten the name of our God
or wspread out our hands to xa foreign god,
21 ywould not God discover this?
zFor he knows the secrets of the heart.
22Yet aafor your sake we are killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.
23 abAwake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?
Rouse yourself! acDo not reject us forever!
24Why addo you hide your face?
Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?
25For our aesoul is bowed down to the dust;
our belly clings to the ground.
26Rise up; afcome to our help!
agRedeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!
