1 Corinthians 10:1-10

Warning Against Idolatry

1For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers,
Or  brothers and sisters
that our fathers were all under bthe cloud, and all cpassed through the sea,
2and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3and dall ate the same espiritual food, 4and fall drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for gthey were overthrown
Or  were laid low
in the wilderness.

6Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as ithey did. 7 jDo not be idolaters kas some of them were; as it is written, l“The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8 mWe must not indulge in sexual immorality nas some of them did, and otwenty-three thousand fell in a single day. 9We must not put Christ
Some manuscripts the Lord
to the test, qas some of them did and rwere destroyed by serpents,
10nor grumble, sas some of them did and twere destroyed by uthe Destroyer.

Hebrews 3:7-10

A Rest for the People of God

7Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

vToday, if you hear his voice,
8do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
on the day of testing in the wilderness,
9where your fathers put me to the test
and saw my works for wforty years.
10Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;
they have not known my ways.’

Hebrews 3:16-19

16For xwho were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not yall those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, zwhose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom did he swear that aathey would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19So we see that abthey were unable to enter because of unbelief.
