9 For you remember, brothers, ^ajour labor and toil: we ^akworked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. 10 You are witnesses, and ^alGod also, ^amhow holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. 11 For you know how, ^anlike a father with his children, 12 we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and ^aocharged ^apyou to walk in a manner worthy of God, ^aqwho calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

1 Thessalonians 2:14

14 For you, brothers, ^arbecame imitators of ^asthe churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea. A Life Pleasing to God

1 Finally, then, brothers, ^{▼▼Or brothers and sisters; also verses 10, 13} we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you ^axreceived from us ^ayhow you ought to walk and ^azto please God, just as you are doing, that you ^bado so more and more. 2 For ^bbyou know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, ^bcyour sanctification: ^{▼▼Or your holiness} ^bethat you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own ^bfbody ^{▼▼Or how to take a wife for himself; Greek how to possess his own vessel} in holiness and ^bhhonor, 5 not in ^bithe passion of lust ^bjlike the Gentiles ^bkwho do not know God; 6 that no one transgress and ^blwrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is ^bman avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For ^bnGod has not called us for ^boimpurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore ^bpwhoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, ^bqwho gives his Holy Spirit to you.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-10

Warning Against Idleness

6 Now we command you, brothers, ^brin the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ^bsthat you keep away from any ^btbrother ^buwho is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know ^bvhow you ought to imitate us, because ^bwwe were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but ^bxwith toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. 9 It was ^bynot because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves ^bzan example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: ^caIf anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.
