1 Corinthians 15:51-57

51Behold! I tell you a mystery. aWe shall not all sleep, bbut we shall all be changed, 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For cthe trumpet will sound, and dthe dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and ethis mortal body must put on immortality. 54When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

fDeath is swallowed up in victory.”
55 g“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
56The sting of death is sin, and hthe power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, iwho gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:14-17

14For tsince we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him uthose who have fallen asleep. 15For this we declare to you vby a word from the Lord,
Or  by the word of the Lord
that xwe who are alive, who are left until ythe coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16For zthe Lord himself will descend aafrom heaven abwith a cry of command, with the voice of acan archangel, and adwith the sound of the trumpet of God. And aethe dead in Christ will rise first. 17Then we who are alive, who are left, will be afcaught up together with them agin the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so ahwe will always be with the Lord.
