1 Corinthians 13:1-8

The Way of Love

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have hprophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, iso as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 jIf I give away all I have, and kif I deliver up my body to be burned,
Some manuscripts  deliver up my body [to death] that I may boast
but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 mLove is patient and nkind; love odoes not envy or boast; it pis not arrogant 5or rude. It qdoes not insist on its own way; it ris not irritable or resentful;
Greek  irritable and does not count up wrongdoing
6it tdoes not rejoice at wrongdoing, but urejoices with the truth. 7 vLove bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, wendures all things.

8Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

1 John 4:7-18

God Is Love

7Beloved, aflet us love one another, for love is from God, and agwhoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 ahAnyone who does not love does not know God, because aiGod is love. 9In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that ajGod sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, aknot that we have loved God albut that he loved us and sent his Son to be amthe propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 anNo one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and aohis love is perfected in us.

13 apBy this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And aqwe have seen and testify that arthe Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of asthe world. 15 atWhoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16So auwe have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. avGod is love, and awwhoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this axis love perfected with us, so that aywe may have confidence for the day of judgment, because azas he is so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but baperfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not bbbeen perfected in love.
