13Go in at once to King David, and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, aSolomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then is Adonijah king?’

1 Chronicles 29:23

23 bThen Solomon sat on the cthrone of the Lord as king in place of David his father. And he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.

Jeremiah 17:25

25then dthere shall enter by the gates of this city kings and princes who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their officials, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city shall be inhabited forever.
