1 Kings 1:47-48

47 Moreover, the king’s servants came to congratulate our lord King David, saying, ^a‘May your God make the name of Solomon more famous than yours, and make his throne greater than your throne.’ And the king ^bbowed himself on the bed. 48 And the king also said, ‘Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, ^cwho has granted someone ^{▼▼Septuagint one of my offspring} to sit on my throne this day, my own eyes seeing it.’”

David’s Instructions to Solomon

1 ^eWhen David’s time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon his son, saying, 2 ^f“I am about to go the way of all the earth. ^gBe strong, and show yourself a man, 3 and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, ^hthat you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, 4 that the Lord may ⁱestablish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ^j‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, ^kto walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, ^lyou shall not lack ^{▼▼Hebrew there shall not be cut off for you} a man on the throne of Israel.’

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 ⁿ“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous ^oBranch, and ^phe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and ^qIsrael will ^rdwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ^s‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
