David’s Instructions to Solomon

1 eWhen David’s time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon his son, saying, 2 f“I am about to go the way of all the earth. gBe strong, and show yourself a man, 3and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, hthat you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, 4that the Lord may iestablish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, jIf your sons pay close attention to their way, kto walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, lyou shall not lack
Hebrew there shall not be cut off for you
a man on the throne of Israel.’

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 nBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous oBranch, and phe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6In his days Judah will be saved, and qIsrael will rdwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: s‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
