1 Kings 10:1-9

The Queen of Sheba

1 aNow when bthe queen of cSheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came dto test him with hard questions. 2She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels ebearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind. 3And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from the king that he could not explain to her. 4And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 5the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, their clothing, his cupbearers, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more breath in her.

6And she said to the king, “The report was true that I heard in my own land of your words and of your wisdom, 7but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity surpass the report that I heard. 8 fHappy are your men! Happy are your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 9 gBlessed be the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel! hBecause the Lord loved Israel forever, he has made you king, ithat you may execute justice and righteousness.”

1 Kings 10:23-24

23 jThus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. 24And the whole earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.

Proverbs 4:5-9

6Do not forsake her, and she will keep you;
mlove her, and she will guard you.
7 nThe beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
and whatever you get, get oinsight.
8Prize her highly, and she will exalt you;
she will phonor you qif you embrace her.
9She will place on your head ra graceful garland;

32 “And now, sO sons, listen to me:
tblessed are those who keep my ways.
33 uHear instruction and be wise,
and do not neglect it.
34 vBlessed is the one who listens to me,

35For wwhoever finds me xfinds life
and yobtains favor from the Lord,

Ecclesiastes 9:15-18

15But there was found in it za poor, wise man, and he by his aawisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man. 16But I say that abwisdom is better than might, though acthe poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

17The words of the wise heard in adquiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. 18 aeWisdom is better than weapons of war, but afone sinner destroys much good.
