1 Kings 12:28-32

28So the king took counsel and amade two calves of gold. And he said to the people, “You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. bBehold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” 29And he set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. 30Then cthis thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one.
Septuagint  went to the one at Bethel and to the other as far as Dan
31He also made etemples on high places and fappointed priests from among all the people, who were not of the Levites. 32And Jeroboam appointed a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like gthe feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he made. And he placed in Bethel hthe priests of the high places that he had made.

Hosea 8:5-6

5 iI have
Hebrew He has
spurned your calf, O Samaria.
My anger burns against them.
kHow long will they be incapable of innocence?
6For it is from Israel;
a craftsman made it;
it is not God.
lThe calf of Samaria
mshall be broken to pieces.
Or  shall go up in flames

Hosea 10:5

5The inhabitants of Samaria tremble
for othe calf
Or calves
of qBeth-aven.
Its people mourn for it, and so do its idolatrous priests
those who rejoiced over it and rover its glory
for it has departed
Or  has gone into exile
from them.

Amos 7:10-17

Amos Accused

10Then Amaziah tthe priest of Bethel sent to uJeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has vconspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words. 11For thus Amos has said,

“‘Jeroboam shall die by the sword,
and wIsrael must go into exile
away from his land.’”
12And Amaziah said to Amos, x“O seer, go, flee away yto the land of Judah, and zeat bread there, and prophesy there, 13but aanever again prophesy at Bethel, for abit is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a temple of the kingdom.”

14Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, acI was
Or am; twice in this verse
no prophet, nor a prophet’s son, but aeI was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs.
15 afBut the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’ 16 agNow therefore hear the word of the Lord.

You say, ah‘Do not prophesy against Israel,
and aido not preach against the house of ajIsaac.’
17 akTherefore thus says the Lord:

“‘Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city,
and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword,
and your land alshall be divided up with a measuring line;
you yourself shall die in an unclean land,
and amIsrael shall surely go into exile away from its land.’”
