1 Kings 14:7-16

7Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: aBecause I exalted you from among the people and made you leader over my people Israel 8and btore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you, and yet you have not been clike my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with all his heart, doing only that which was right in my eyes, 9but you have done evil above all who were before you and have gone and dmade for yourself other gods and emetal images, provoking me to anger, and fhave cast me behind your back, 10therefore behold, I will bring harm upon the house of Jeroboam and gwill cut off from Jeroboam every male, hboth bond and free in Israel, and iwill burn up the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns up dung until it is all gone. 11 jAnyone belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs shall eat, and anyone who dies in the open country the birds of the heavens shall eat, for the Lord has spoken it.”’ 12Arise therefore, go to your house. kWhen your feet enter the city, the child shall die. 13And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him lthere is found something pleasing to the Lord, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. 14 mMoreover, the Lord will raise up for himself a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam today. And henceforth, 15the Lord will strike Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and nroot up Israel out of othis good land that he gave to their fathers and scatter them pbeyond the Euphrates,

16And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he sinned and made Israel to sin.”

1 Kings 21:18-22

18Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who is in sSamaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone to take possession. 19And you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Have you killed and also taken possession?”’ And you shall say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: t“In the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your own blood.”’”

20Ahab said to Elijah, u“Have you found me, O my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you, because vyou have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord. 21Behold, I will bring disaster upon you. I will utterly burn you up, and wwill cut off from Ahab every male, bond or free, in Israel. 22And I will make your house like xthe house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like ythe house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the anger to which you have provoked me, and because you zhave made Israel to sin.

2 Chronicles 21:12-15

12And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father, aaBecause you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or abin the ways of Asa king of Judah, 13 acbut have walked in the way of the kings of Israel and have enticed Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem adinto whoredom, aeas the house of Ahab led Israel into whoredom, and also you afhave killed your brothers, of your father’s house, who were better than you, 14behold, the Lord will bring a great plague on your people, your children, your wives, and all your possessions, 15and you yourself will have a severe sickness agwith a disease of your bowels, until your bowels come out because of the disease, day by day.’”

Jeremiah 13:18

18 Say to ahthe king and aithe queen mother:
“Take a lowly seat,
for ajyour beautiful crown
has come down from your head.”

Jeremiah 22:1-9

1Thus says the Lord: “Go down to the house of the king of Judah and speak there this word, 2and say, akHear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter these gates. 3Thus says the Lord: alDo justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And amdo no wrong or violence anto the resident alien, aothe fatherless, and the widow, nor apshed innocent blood in this place. 4For if you will indeed obey this word, aqthen there shall enter the gates of this house kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants and their people. 5But if you will not obey these words, I arswear by myself, declares the Lord, that asthis house shall become a desolation. 6For thus says the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah:

“‘You are like Gilead to me,
like the summit of atLebanon,
yet surely I will make you a desert,
auan uninhabited city.

7 awI will prepare destroyers against you,
each with his weapons,
axand they shall cut down your choicest cedars
and cast them into the fire.
8“‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, ayWhy has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?” 9 azAnd they will answer, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’”

Hosea 7:3-5

3By their evil bathey make bbthe king glad,
and the princes by their treachery.
4 bcThey are all adulterers;
they are like a heated oven
whose baker ceases to stir the fire,
from the kneading of the dough
until it is leavened.
5On the day of bdour king, the princes
became sick with the heat of wine;
he stretched out his hand with mockers.
